Fisher Price Fashion Diaper Bag Review

I review new products often, but very rarely do I have the chance to highlight something that not only do I use on the daily, but my entire family does as well. Today I have been given that opportunity, and I’m pretty jazzed about it.

No, it’s not as glamourous as a television set or the Play Station, but actually it gets a lot more use than both objects combined. I’m talking of course, about the diaper bag.

Not just any diaper bag, the Fischer Price Diaper Backpack. If you are a parent of a small child, you know that the time for excitement is now. Read More

Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed Review – Probably The Best Sucker Yet

Looking for a solid Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed review?

Great, because you’ve come to the right place.

I think it is safe to say that none of us are particularly fond of vacuuming.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is though, that unless we are comfortable living with dirt and dust, busting out the vacuum now and then is very necessary.

But do you know what’s worse than vacuuming?

Vacuuming with subpar equipment.

Have you ever spent an hour vacuuming your house, only to look back and see that there is still dirt and dust everywhere?

I know I have.

Owning the right cleaning equipment can make a huge difference when it comes to maintaining the cleanliness of your home, but with all that is out there who is to say what product is best? We are here to help with that.

We have found a high-end vacuum that we think will be a great addition to your home. Today we will look at Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed (NV803), so you can decide for yourself if it is a worthy addition to your cleaning arsenal!

Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed Duoclean:

The Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed NV803 is a high-end vacuum that takes care of dirt and grime with ease through innovative technology. Let’s take a look at some of this product’s features, so you can decide for yourself if it is a worthwhile buy!

  • Duoclean Technology: Hey, when you saw the products name, I’m sure you figured the word “DuoClean” would be mentioned somewhere in the features. The real question is, what does it mean?

In this case, it means that the product features a soft brush that pulls dirt that has been stuck onto any surface up, while a high-grade vacuum sucks it all away.

  • Extended Reach: The NV803 features a canister that detaches to extend the reach of your cleaning head. More reach means that your home gets the easy, thorough clean that you deserve.
  • Clear out the Debris: Do you ever notice that your vacuum doesn’t suck up larger items, but just pushes them around your floor? Not with this product!

The NV803 does not feature a low front wall, meaning it has no trouble getting over larger pieces of debris.

  • Get your Swerve on: The head featured on this model swivels easily, for more dynamic motion than your standard vacuum. The increase in mobility gives you easier access to ordinarily hard to reach surfaces.
  • Anti-Allergen: The high-powered vacuum of the of the NV803 is able to suck up 99.9% of all allergens, while an innovative seal keeps them tucked away, so they can’t escape back into the air.
  • LED Lights: You’re probably thinking that a vacuum does not need lights, and to be fair, you’re right, but it certainly helps. The lights featured on the front of this model will help you spot dirt beneath furniture to help maximize the effectiveness of your cleaning efforts.

Pros and Cons

Now that you know what the Shark DuoClean system is capable of, let’s take a look at the pros and cons, so you can decide for yourself how valuable those features are.

  • Thorough: All the extra bells and whistles of the DuoClean system definitely serve a purpose. While they do drive the price up, they also help to deliver a very deep clean, which is exactly what you want from a vacuum.
  • Versatile: You definitely want a vacuum that can hit hard to reach spots, and this is certainly one of them.
  • Innovative: You’re getting top of the line cleaning technology with this buy. Some people are all about keeping their tools and appliances up to date, and though costly, doing so does result in high grade stuff.

  • The only really substantial con for this particular unit is the price. A lot of people are rightly not going to want to spend over three hundred dollars on a vacuum.

If you are someone that values leading edge technology, and a lot of bells and whistles, then you are going to have to be willing to shell out some money. If you do make that decision, the NV803 is certainly something to take a look at.

But Does it Suck?

Okay, I know we all want to know if this thing can really do what we saw on TV as I too am an As Seen on Tv junkie and can’t help but sit there watching an infomercial about the same product over and over and over again.

Wondering if I should buy the Shark Duoclean Powered Lift-Away or not.

Wondering if it will only work for a month and then stop like every other vacuum out there.

Then the price gets you even more confident it will be your last vacuum purchase because it’s almost too high for the average American.

So many questions go through your mind as you get more indulged in the infomercial, which is probably what landed you on this review in the first place.

So does it work?

Vacuums and Floors

Almost all vacuums out there will always suck your carpet really well and then leave particles behind once it hits the floor.

This was one of the key selling points for me and something that made this stand out from the rest.

Being able to grab stuff off of a tile was a really strong point for the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away and with that alone, gave it a point above the rest.

The HEPA Filter Test

Then came the HEPA filter part of the infomercial.

With their little blacklight experiment, sales flew through the roof as they did a great job on that part.

I know when I use my shopvac, everything gets shot straight out through the other end, which is very much bad for anyone with allergies.

Yes, a shopvac is meant for a more serious job, but with the Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed, it gave me a different perspective on how a vacuum should really work.

For us parents, this is the deal breaker as we don’t want any of that stuff we suck up floating back into the air.

The Price For the Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed

You can get the Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed on for $329.

There are flexible payment options from the direct site, so you can consider that if you are looking for a way to spread out some payments rather than spending all at once.

  • $329 from Amazon
  • Flexible payments from the official site

User Reviews

Even when you have a long list of features in front of you, sometimes the best way to know if a product is worthwhile is to take a look at what people who already own it have to say.

To simplify the process, we have taken a look at user reviews from Amazon, and other similar sites.

General consensus for the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed (NV803) is extremely positive.

In fact, there really is not even a user complaint significant enough to mention.

Users love how lightweight and effective the NV803 is. Many report that, just like advertised, this model is capable of getting easy access to tight places, and delivering a deep clean on any surface.

If there is one grievance worth mentioning, it is in regards to assembling the NV803.

The model does not come assembled, and some users have reported having a hard time putting together all the pieces.

That said, a detailed manual is included in every package that should help you get the job done with relative ease.

Aside from that, people are pleased! Those who were willing to accept the NV803’s steep price tag ended up being glad they did!

Final Thoughts

It goes without saying that all homeowners want the very best clean possible for their house.

Thousands of cleaning products exist as a response to that very desire, and it can sometimes be difficult to decide which ones are worth your time and money.

Without question, the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed (NV803) delivers high quality results, but it also comes with a price tag that will turn a lot of potential buyers away.

Is it worth the cost?

That is entirely up to you.

The NV803 is going to make cleaning your home easier, and with high end features, you can also probably expect much better results than you are used to.

If you put ease of use and quality results at a premium, the NV803 is without question a terrific buying option.

Rodent Sheriff Review – Does It Actually Work?

rodent-sheriff-reviewThis review of Rodent Sheriff will give you everything you need to know before purchasing something that might not even work.

Anything coming from As Seen on TV land is always going to have mixed reviews, but let’s just see if this thing can actually get the job done.

For their size, a pesky rodent can go a long way towards making even a full grown adult uneasy.

No one wants to wake up to the sound of squeaking, turn on the light, and find two little red eyes staring up at them from the floor below.

But besides being a nuisance, rodents can be a hazard to the health of your family (I think that we all remember the plague), and, they are creepy.

If you find yourself with a rodent problem, but don’t want to shell out big bucks for an exterminator, there may be a solution out there for you.

The Rodent Sheriff.

What is The Rodent Sheriff?

The Rodent Sheriff is an as seen on TV product that promises to rid your home of rodents through a natural and safe spray.

If the “As Seen on TV” aspect of this product makes you a little skeptical, that’s okay.

You work hard for your money—it’s a good idea to scrutinize products before you buy them.

Today we will be taking a look at some of the features, as well as the pros and cons of the Rodent Sheriff, so you can decide for yourself if it’s the answer to your pest problem.

Rodent Sheriff:
Of course, the name of this product is enough to suggest that its function is pest control.

What makes it different from other products of a similar nature is the natural ingredients that make it safe to keep around your family.

Let’s take a look at some of the Rodent Sheriff’s features, so you can see for yourself that if it is a pest deterrent worthy of your money.

  • Safe and Natural: If you are a parent, the words, “Safe and Natural,” are music to your ears. Try as you might to prevent it, kids have a way of getting into everything, and what’s worse, they demonstrate a particular prepotency for getting into things that are bad for them. With the Rodent Sheriff, you won’t need to worry about that. Made with natural peppermint oil, there is no need to concern yourself with the threat of harmful chemicals.
  • Use it anywhere: This product is great for in or outdoor use, meaning you can take care of the rats in your attic, and the ants in your garage with the same bottle.
  • All rodents: The Rodent Sheriff tames more than just shrews. With this product, you can expect great protection against mice, rats, raccoons, and more!
  • Use it for a long time: The eight ounces of peppermint powder included in every can are good for one thousand sprays, meaning your money is buying you a product that will last a long time when you purchase the Rodent Sheriff.

Pros and Cons

  • Chemical Free: Again, parents and pet owners understand how big of a deal this is. As a recent father, I am extremely particular about everything that I bring into my house. The assurance that this product will do no harm to your pets or family should give it a huge edge over other, similar products.
  • Price: The Rodent Sheriff does not cost all that much to begin with, and right now you can get two almost for the price of one on Amazon. Coupled with the fact that each bottle can yield up to a thousand sprays, it is safe to say that you are getting a lot of bang for your buck!
  • Versatility: One of the best things about this product is its versatility. It’s not just made for rats, or mice, but also for cockroaches, raccoons, and more. In other words, chances are pretty good that you’ll always have something to use it for, whether you’re keeping mice out of your cupboard, or raccoons out of your garage.

  • Strong Smell: Users report that the peppermint scent is very strong in this product. The strong smell is what makes this product so effective in repelling rodents, but if you don’t care for the scent, that might be a big turn off for you.
  • Rain: If you need this product for outside use, and you happen to live in an area where it rains a lot, you might find yourself running into problems. While the Rodent Sheriff is advertised as being good for outdoor use, rain will often times minimize the effectiveness of the spray, and will find yourself needing to reapply the substance often. Do note that this goes for almost all pesticides, even the ones that these commercial companies use.
  • Reapply Every Day: If you have a particularly persistent pest problem, you will definitely need to regularly apply the spray. If you don’t do so at least daily, you’re most likely going to find that the problem will persist. This may sound like a given, but since it seems to be a consistent user complaint, we’ve decided to include it on the list.

The Price to Get Rodent Sheriff

After some thorough research, I have found the cheapest place to get Rodent Sheriff is on and yes, you can get two for almost the same price as one.

The price starts at around $19 but you get two bottles for that price.

User Reviews

It’s nice to know what people who actually own a product think of it, right?

We’ve taken the time to look over some user reviews from Amazon, and sites like it, so you don’t have to. Here is what we have found:

General consensus on the Rodent Sheriff is actually fairly mixed.

People seem to either love it , or hate it.

Many users have had a positive experience with this product, finding that it made short work of their rodent problem, while others seem to have found it ineffective.

That said, many of the negative reviews seem to be a product of improper use.

As mentioned above, it is important to continue to spray, especially when using the product outside. Proper use seems to get the job done, but if a few negative reviews are enough to scar you off, you’ll ultimately need to make the decision you think is best for your household.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, only you can decide what products are best for your home, but for what it’s worth, we think this is a pretty good one.

If you find the mixed reviews to be troubling, that is understandable, but for the affordable price that this product goes for, it’s worth at least giving it a try.

If you want a pest repellant that is safe for your pets, and your children, then you know where to go.

Flex Seal Tape Review – Does It Really Work?

Flex Seal Tape is another controversial product from the As Seen on TV world that is supposed to seal leaks, cracks, and everything in between.

With its triple layered adhesive, it can bond to almost any surface and can also be done under water.

From the Flex Seal line of products, Flex Tape is the latest addition to their product line.

Does Flex Tape Work?

Should You buy Flex Tape?

You can’t help but wonder if the very popular brand’s new product actually works, especially with all the mixed reviews that you see all over the place.

This review will show you exactly what this tape is about before you decide to purchase something that might just be a bunch of hype.

With the As Seen on TV infomercial hype, you can’t help but wonder how strong this tape really is.

With the very popular video of the boat being cut in its main product Flex Seal, They have that same video, but this time using Flex Tape.

Taping a boat together?

I don’t know about that, but let’s see what this thing can really do.

Uses For Flex Tape

Flex Tape can be used on rubber, plastic, PVC, wood, drywall, ceramic, metal, and fiberglass.

It has 3 layers of rubber, but will that really matter if the adhesive isn’t strong enough?

Flex Tape can repair a broken pipe, leaking roof, a hanging car bumper, leaking pools, campers, RV’s and even put together a boat that was sawn in half.

It may seem crazy, but I believe the taping of the boat more than patching the big hole on the bucket, simply because the boat in the infomercial is a lot thinner and by taping the two together, it will provide a stronger bond with the tape.

Then you have to put the water factor with the bucket with the pressure and placing Flex Tape on it will be a task and a half.

But Can Flex Tape Really Work?

If you’re thinking that this tape can work as easily as it would when you saw it on TV, you might be in for a little disappointment.

Using the tape on a wet surface is one thing that does actually work, but not so much sealing a hole in a bucket with water trying to come out.

You also need to put into consideration the type of surface you’re trying to seal as that will make all the difference, even if they say that it can bond on any surface.

If your bucket is dirty, chances are you won’t get such a tight seal.

Use one like in the infomercial and you might just get a better seal.

How about cutting a boat in half?

I have not tried this, but if you really think about it, I think it can actually do the job.

With the tape being pretty thick, it should be able to bond things together, especially if you’re using the tape on both sides of the boat.

We’re talking about the skinny flimsy type of boat that you saw on TV and not your average boat either, so keep that in mind as well.

Flex Tape is Temporary

Of course the infomercial will make it seem like this thing will seal and replace any leak, but according to the manufacturer, Flex Tape is designed as an emergency, temporary fix.

So if you’re thinking that you can slap this on your roof and you’re good to go, you might want to have your handyman on call as you will definitely need to make an actual repair on your roof.

The Price For Flex Seal Tape

For $14.99, you can get a roll of 5′ of Flex Seal Tape which is 4″ wide or you can spend $19.99, which gets you the 8″ wide tape which also comes with a roll of 5′.

Pros & Cons of Flex Tape

  • Can seal some leaks
  • Is actually pretty thick

  • Doesn’t work well on wood or any other rough surface
  • Is temporary

Do I Recommend Flex Tape?

I think this works great for bonding certain things, but probably not your best bet for sealing crazy big leaks.

If you can get the surface around a leak pretty clean and smooth, Flex Tape will actually work, even if the surface is wet.

If you’re trying to actually just tape something together, you might be better off with some Gorilla Tape.

I recommend you use the regular old Flex Seal if you’re trying to seal some small leaks as this big tape is not going to be your best bet.

Just remember that you’re not getting some crazy sealant that will stop any leak, but rather something that can work for smaller jobs or if you want to simply hold something together.

I’m very neutral with this product, so take it with a grain of salt and really think about what you are going to use this for.

Thanks for reading my Flex Tape review and I hope this helps you make a better decision on whether or not you should give this a try.

If you have any experience with this, please share your thoughts below as I’m sure we all have different experiences with the oh so lovely Flex Tape and every other As Seen on TV product.

How Old Should Your Kid Be Before You Get Them Their Own Cellphone?

Topics involving kids are very different these days and boy is it complicated.

Not only has things changed for the worse (in regards to parenting), but parents have become sensitive and due to social media, we see things a lot differently, which I can not stand.

Gone are the days of dads going off to work while mom stays home, since Beyonce wants to give everyone the idea that women can do anything since she runs the whole “B” hive.

Props to Beyonce and her success, but I think she’s put a huge dent on what women should be doing with themselves as boy have things changed.

Something as simple as a cellphone can be really complicated these days and it’s almost impossible to let your kids go without a cellphone, whether you like it or not.

This topic can go back and forth forever, but if you do your job as a parent, the whole when should your kids have a cellphone issue will be that much easier to handle.

So How Old Should Your Kid Really Be Before They Get Their Own Cellphone?

This can vary especially with schools having their different rules.

When figuring out a specific age that you should give your chile their own cellphone, please don’t decide on what everyone else is doing as that is not the way to go about things.

Don’t become a “monkey see, monkey do” parent or you’ll make things harder for your kids when they can make decisions on their own.

Keep these next few topics in mind when making this decision and you should be good to go.

Keeping in Touch

There’s no better way to keep in good communication with your kids than with a cellphone.

Gone are the days of pagers, and soon to be the landline, so of course we will be in full use of mobile devices just like we already are.

We have a landline here and when it rings, everyone jumps like it’s an alarm because we get calls on there like once a week.

As far what a phone was designed for in the first place, getting your kid a cellphone for staying in touch is a great idea.

The word cellphone will soon join the rotary phone since we all know that these little things are referred to as a “mobile device”.

Do You Really Want Them to be Left Out?

This reason alone is enough for most parents to get their kids a cellphone, even if they aren’t allowed to bring them to school.

It really starts with one kid and then everyone else will follow.

Then once the majority had cellphones, what do you really want to do for your kids?

Leave them out?

Not that easy my friend.

So if you absolutely positively need to get your kid a cellphone, do so, but do so in a  responsible way from the day you get them one.

Not to say that you need to monitor their every move, but let them understand that it is truly a luxury and a privilege to own one, so treat it as such.

So How Old Should They Be?

This is going to be determined on everything mentioned above, so please be the responsible parent and spoil your kids, but not to the point of handicapping their lives.

They will soon be adults too, so do them a favor and let them do a lot of the learning on their own.

Be there to guide them in that right direction and in the end everyone will be happy.

Personally, I give my two year old my phone so he can watch his favorite Youtube channels, but of course there has to be a limit.

Now you tell me, how old should a kid really be in order for them to own their own cellphone?

Hello Fresh Review – International Delivery Boom or Bust?

With the many Hello Fresh reviews and their inconsistency, I had to give my two cents on something we currently are using.

Are home-delivery services worth the money, convenience, and time? Or is it too costly even for the single bachelor/bachelorette?

This review of Hello Fresh will give you a small inside look at how tasty these delivery services are.

Some of these recipes, selection of produce and meats are less than best, while others leave you wanting more.

Background on Hello Fresh

Hello Fresh started back in 2011 and was founded by a few individuals, Dominik Richter, Thomas Griesel, and Jessica Nilsson (Berlin). Most of their services are offered through Western Europe, North America, and even Australia.

Back in 2015, Jamie Oliver (British Celebrity Chef) announced a partnership with Hello Fresh as he is the creator of these famous recipes that many have grown to love.

How it works

Once you’ve decided this type of delivery service is for you or your family, (come on this is a family blog) Hello Fresh offers three different plan types.

  • Classic Plan ($9.99 per meal) Variety of meat, fish, and seasonal produce
    • Includes Meat and Fish recipes
    • Serves 2 or 4 adults
    • 8 recipes to choose from
  • Veggie Plan ($9.99 per meal) Meat-free proteins and seasonal produce for the vegetarian individuals or families
    • Vegetarian recipes ONLY!
    • Serves 2 or 4 adults
    • Receive 3 hand-picked recipes
  • Family Plan ($8.74 per meal) Family-friendly recipes to please adults and (picky) children
    • Meat, fish, and vegetarian recipes
    • Serves 2 adults and 2 children
    • Receive 3 hand-picked recipes

The website offers its customers up to 8 recipes on the Classic plan, while the vegetarian and family plan only offers 3.

Other similar companies offer 10+ recipes to choose from, but these aren’t the most convenient or flexible meal plans, especially if you have diet restrictions in any of the above plans.

Let’s look at some of the plans coming-up next week and see how well they fare against one another.

Classic Plan (Week of May 27th – June 2nd)

Chicken Pineapple Quesadillas with Pico de Gallo and Southwestern Spices (30 mins)

  • Melty Monterey Jack Burger with Red Onion Jam and Zucchini Fries (35 mins)
  • Sesame Shrimp with Ginger Scallion Rice and Crispy Green Beans (30 mins)
  • Shawarma Spiced Pork with Couscous and Peas (30 mins)
  • Penne with Sausage, Corn, and Zucchini On (or Off) the Grill (30 mins)
  • Strip Steak Béarnaise with Creamed Kale and Rosemary Potatoes (45 mins)
  • Asparagus and Prosciutto Tartines with Lemon Pepper Ricotta and a Potato Hash (35 mins)
  • Speedy Springtime Pasta with Mint, Pancetta, and Peas (25 mins)

Veggie Plan (Week of May 27th – June 2nd)

  • Za’atar-Crusted Grilling Cheese with Sumac Roasted Veggies (30 mins)
  • Mega Mushroom Burgers with Avocado, Caramelized Onions, and Spicy Mayo (30 mins)
  • Colorful Confetti Salad with Corn, Beans, and Cajun Spices (30 mins)

Family Plan (Week of May 27th – June 2nd)

  • Penne with Sausage, Corn, and Zucchini On (or Off) the Grill (30 mins)
  • Thai Pork Stir-Fry with Green Beans and Bell Peppers over Rice (30 mins)
  • Lighter Fish and Chips with Broccoli and DIY Tarter Sauce (40 mins)

(Btw, it takes longer than 25-45 mins to make some of these meals)

As you can see, some of these are sound great while others may not appeal to every family. Hello Fresh offers its customers to skip a week (or more) if the recipes aren’t enjoyable (back to the grocery shopping it is for those weeks).

Check out the pricing below for Hello Fresh based on 2 or 4 people with their 3, 4, or 5 meals delivered a week.
Table 1

Those who work full-time, let’s say 2 working and able-bodied parents with a couple of kids (totaling the 4 people) if you want to try this out, you’re still paying $60 per week. Keep in mind this is for ONLY for 1 meal a day!!

How do the meals taste?

I’ll be honest with you and I’ll share with you the recipes we’ve had with Hello Fresh. The ingredients are surprisingly good and maybe not something to write home to mom about, but worth blogging about.

Here’s a few of the recipes we’ve tried, you be the judge.

New York Strip Steak Panzanella with Watercress, Heirloom Tomatoes, and Garlic Croutons

  • The steak itself was (pretty) good, tender and juicy and flavorful (all things considered in a home delivery service). Instead of garlic croutons, I would have opted for a vegetable such as potatoes and the sauce that you make is a bit too strong as it was too vinegar-y.

Fun Fajita Day Bar with Southwestern Pork, Tomato Lime Salsa, and Cheddar Cheese (Includes Sour Cream)

  • The pork itself wasn’t the best as the pork was quite tough (it wasn’t our cooking) but otherwise everything else was flavorful and seasoned well. The downside (I enjoy sour cream on my tacos) they only provide you with 2 small packets of sour cream.

Berbere Chicken and Zucchini with Cilantro Rice and Lemon Yogurt Sauce

  • I was surprisingly shocked by this recipe and did not have many expectations for this, but it was quite delicious. The chicken was full of flavor and juicy along with the rice being perfect and the lemon yogurt sauce.

Pork, Eggplant, and Squash Stir-Fry with Sesame and Ginger over Brown Rice

  • This sucked, honestly, the spices and flavor are absolutely missing and struck out in this recipe. The pork overall was mediocre at best and there was no taste, no flavor, definitely could have used some spices and heat here.

Is it Worth it?

Will I buy again? Is it worth it for me and my family? I’ll tell you this much, I had a GREAT deal to try this so we took advantage of it. A friend gave us a free week, which is why we had to dive in.

I don’t know about you, but I know if I’m spending $60 – $100 a week for only 1 meal (btw, it literally makes for 1 meal there aren’t any left-overs) it’s a bit pricey and overboard if you ask me.

Due to how many different companies out there offer this type of service, we could only pick one. We may try out another company that offers similar delivery services such as Marley Spoon (Martha Stewart).

I’ve added a quick chart below for a price difference between both. The pricing reflects 3, 4, or 5 meals with 2 or 4 people under the Classic Plan (this is what we selected).

Table 2

The cost savings is a slight difference between the two companies, is one better than the other? Time will tell as I’d like to try Marley Spoon or any other competitor just to see if the products are a better quality (it’s Martha Stewart after all), or if they’re both similar in products, recipes, flavor, etc.

Well there you have it!

My Hello Fresh review.

All in all, I think it’s a pretty good service and I would recommend you at least try it as we are all different

Have you tried either one of these companies? What are your opinions on either? Sound off below!
